Sustaining success: Congratulations to BNSF’s 2025 sustainability leaders

We’re proud to honor 32 companies that are leading the freight industry in achieving the most ambitious sustainability goals. In its fourth year, the 2025 BNSF Sustainability Awards recognize our customers and partners for their significant commitments to environmental responsibility and efficiency. Key areas include:  

• Circular Economy Infrastructure: Rail moves of recycled wind blades, plastics recycling facilities and low-carbon cement manufacturing
• Supply Chain Efficiencies: Conversion from truck to rail, logistics park growth/co-location, pre-blocking, load efficiencies and reusable dunnage
• Sustainable Technology Implementation: Use of zero- and near-zero emission equipment
• Sustainability Leadership: Leading efforts in sustainability or efficiency initiatives with BNSF

In addition to helping our customers reduce their carbon footprints, we are leading the way in the optimization of freight transportation sustainability by developing the next generation of locomotives and new technologies. Our goal is to reduce BNSF carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030.
