Industrial Products Network Update for Friday, August 16, 2024

Date

OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE
BNSF operating teams are generating improved performance and building on the positive momentum going into the current week. Average car velocity has improved significantly, by more than six percent and is running more than five percent higher than the average level reported last month. Terminal dwell has decreased from last week and is improved from the average for July. Our local service compliance measure, which measures our efficiency in handling carload freight, has also improved from last week and month.

As communicated, the Canadian railroads have begun issuing embargoes ahead of a potential lockout as the August 22nd deadline to reach a new labor agreement with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) union approaches. BNSF will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you updated as it evolves.

SERVICE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
Excessive heat advisories will remain in place through the weekend in parts of the Southwest and across much of the South-Central states. BNSF teams will continue to closely monitor track and infrastructure for any heat-related impacts and take the appropriate precautions to operate safely. More seasonable conditions are expected across the rest of the network during the next several days, and no significant service interruptions due to weather are anticipated at this time.
