Canadian Railroads Lockout in Effect August 22, 2024

Date
Aug 22, 2024

At 12:01 AM this morning, lockouts went into effect for the Canadian railroads as the deadline to reach a new labor agreement with Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) expired.

While this lockout does not impact BNSF operations, shipments moving to and from Canada through interchange with Canadian railroads will not be moved during this work stoppage. As reported, embargoes are in place and you can search all active embargoes at the Association of American Railroads (AAR) Embargo Railinc website here (enter “CN” or “CPRS” in the Issuing Road field to view active embargoes for CN and CPKC).

BNSF will continue to monitor the situation and is prepared to move shipments quickly and safely when we are able to return to normal interchange operations with the Canadian railroads.

If you have questions, please contact your BNSF Marketing representative.
