DRAG TO ROTATE
Loading and unloading an automotive railcar involves opening the doors at the end of the railcar, placing a ramp at the opening and driving the cars on to or off of the railcar one by one.
The autorack shown here has two decks, with vertical clearance adequate for larger vehicles like pickup trucks. It's 90 feet long, 19 feet high and 10 feet eight inches wide. It can hold up to 10 larger vehicles. It can handle a load up to 80,000 pounds.
We also use tri-level auto-racks with three decks and clearance for up to 15 smaller passenger vehicles, and AutoMax, which have three decks and can hold up to 24 vehicles of various sizes. An AutoMax is made up of two sections joined by an articulated connector. It's more than 141 feet long, 20 feet high and 10 feet eight inches wide, and it can handle a load up to 106,500 pounds.
